Elementary School Science Fair Projects

They chose their topics independently and conducted experiments, each with surprising insight. Conor's question was, "Which will make a stronger magnet, a square [9v] battery, or a round [size C] battery?" He did not foresee the answer but surprised me by figuring out that all other things had to be equal -- like the number of times the wire was coiled around the nail. Cameron's question was, "Which battery will have more power: A cold [from freezer] one, a cool one [from fridge], a room-temperature one, or a warm one [from hot water]?" I can't explain his results. The voltage, in the order of batteries listed above, was 1.628 , 1.625, 1.624, & 1.622. Temperatures were -8 F, 36 F, 72 F, and 113 F respectively. I thought results would be reversed. Can you shed some light on that, Trav?

Soccer-sicles

We had a weather change for this week's soccer game. . .

. . . but it couldn't dampen Gabrian's spirits!

Re-posted this picture full size because I think she's so pretty! :)

Catch Me If You Can!

Gabrian wanted to play "catch me" when it was time to get dressed. This is a game in which I don't participate. Ari, however, was quick to join in, and they were being pretty cute.

Guess What Season Has Begun Again

They were a player short on a small team. Conor played the whole game without a break. He did great!
There's still snow at our house, but it is melted on the soccer field, so spring is surely coming.

I, for one, am thrilled it's soccer season again!

Dribble one, carry one.

Gabrian has a shadow, whether he wants one or not.

Please, can I play too?
