Elementary School Science Fair Projects
They chose their topics independently and conducted experiments, each with surprising insight. Conor's question was, "Which will make a stronger magnet, a square [9v] battery, or a round [size C] battery?" He did not foresee the answer but surprised me by figuring out that all other things had to be equal -- like the number of times the wire was coiled around the nail. Cameron's question was, "Which battery will have more power: A cold [from freezer] one, a cool one [from fridge], a room-temperature one, or a warm one [from hot water]?" I can't explain his results. The voltage, in the order of batteries listed above, was 1.628 , 1.625, 1.624, & 1.622. Temperatures were -8 F, 36 F, 72 F, and 113 F respectively. I thought results would be reversed. Can you shed some light on that, Trav?
